Student Mentor Project

Since 2015, the Student Mentor Project has sought to increase uptake of languages at all levels of secondary education. Involving collaboration between Wales' four education consortia and the universities of Aberystwyth, Bangor, Cardiff and Swansea, the project sees university MFL students placed in local schools for several months. During this time, our students act as mentors, raising both aspiration and awareness of the importance of languages in our global world. Since its inception, the project has been imitated by universities across the UK, as far afield as Aberdeen! You can read more about our students' experiences of the project via the dedicated blog page below.
