"My name is Daniela Golonka and I am a graduate of Modern Languages, Translation and Interpreting BA. After graduating, I returned to Poland and found a job in the IT sector, which was not directly related to my field of study, and decided to pursue it. The role was a First Line Analyst with German at Computacenter, which is a British company that spread internationally. There, I could put the German skills I gained at Swansea University into practice, as well as develop new IT skills. After 6 months there, looking for a new adventure and having planned to move back to the UK, I chose Liverpool, which is a lovely city. I am currently on the hunt for another position in the IT field.
I loved the subjects I studied at Swansea University. I am a huge language geek and I still learn them in my spare time. At Uni, I studied German and French, but recently I picked up Russian, Spanish and Klingon (the fictional language created for Star Trek). To me, there is something oddly intriguing about grammar structures which influence the culture and shape the thought patterns of the speaker.
Other things that I loved about Swansea were: the kind and open community of people, the bonfires on the beach, the societies and socials, the library, the knowledgeable, friendly, and dedicated lecturers who were always willing to help me understand the subject and guide me on how to improve further.
If I could go back in time and make a decision on where to study, I would choose Swansea University again."
